Bodies in Play is a mission-driven organization,
supporting our community through dance, theater, and connection.
Our Mission
Bodies in Play endeavors to challenge and evolve the aesthetics of performance through a consent-based, collaboratively-directed creative process. Bodies in Play bridges the gap between professionalized concert dance and community-based theater by inviting audiences into our creative process and ensuring that those who make the work own the work.
Our vision is to serve as a blueprint for a more equitable dance industry where the body of the performer is a site of agency, not an instrument of production, and where every performance is an invitation to communal symbiosis.
Our Process
Bodies in Play is dedicated to performer consent and creative collaboration. Putting these values into practice is an ongoing pursuit.
